Between 2008 and 2016 we captured and studied the Hymenoptera of superfamily Apoidea of Elba Island (Tuscany). 38 sites were investigated at different times. In a set of 576 individuals we found 141 species (about 15% of Italian Apoidea), belonging to six families: Colletidae (12 species), Andrenidae (21), Halictidae (41), Megachilidae (40), Anthophoridae (19), Apidae (8). The structure of this sample fits very well to the lognormal distribution and the statistical extrapolation suggests a community of 153 Apoidea species on Elba Island, while for the di Pisa e Livorno province we expect from Lognormal distribution about 423 Apoidea species.
