Onoretilla new genus and O. romanoi new species ♂ from Ecuador are described. All the specimens were captured with 3 Trap Malaise in mountains above 2000 m at sea level. ♀ unknown. Subfamily Ephutinae so far have been described four genera: Ephuamelia, Ephucaya, Ephusuarezia and Ephuta. The genus Ephuta is present from the USA to Patagonia and is known for both sexes; of the other 3 genera present in Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay are known only the males. Even the new genus Onoretilla is known only for a series of males being the female unknown. As well as other specific characteristics of the subfamily (such example the tegulae) the new genus stands out for the metallic color and for the long petiole.
