A taxonomic study of the Staphylinid subfamily Aleocharinae of the Western Australia is presented. Two tribes (Athetini, Lomechusini), 5 genera (Leptostiba, Atheta, Pelioptera, Ischyrodyodoys, Australiacantha) and 7 species are recognized. The genus Australiacantha of the tribe Lomechusini and 5 species (Leptostiba bigladifera n. sp., Leptostiba karijiniensis n. sp., Atheta (Acrotona) stirlingensis n. sp., Pelioptera stirlingicola n. sp., Australiacantha stirlingensis n. sp.) are described as new to the science. The new genus and new species are described and illustrated.
