The study of petrographic thin sections collection of Giorgio Vittorio Spezia (1842-1911), professor of mineralogy and petrography and Director of the Mineralogical Museum of the University of Turin, is reported. The collection consists of 60 samples of igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks coming from different places, mostly in Germany and Italy. The collection is currently preserved at the Regional Museum of Natural Sciences of Turin. The observation in light microscopy has allowed to highlight the striking features of each section, justifying their inclusion in the teaching collection. It was set up a computerized catalog, developed with the application of Microsoft Office Access, in which are recorded the most significant museological data.
