Guglielmo Mangili was an eclectic Roman physician and naturalist. Its main interest was herpetology, particularly captive husbandry and the study of venomous snakes. He was one of the young naturalist leading to the creation, just after the liberation of Rome in 1944, of the Unione Italiana Naturalisti around the Zoological Museum in Rome. He was also an anthropologist and primatologist and later served as biologist for the Giardino Zoologico in Rome, participating in 1962-63 to the CNR Expedition to Amazonia led by parasytologist Ettore Biocca.
